The Keymap Editor
Velocity Range (VelRange)
Thisparametershowsthekeyboardvelocityrange(indynamiclevels)thatwilltriggerasample
forthecurrentKeyRange.Inakeyrangewithmorethanonevelocityrange,eachvelocityrange
canuseadifferentsample,aswellasdifferentCoarseTune,FineTune,andVolumeAdjust
settings.Velocityrangesareintended
forusewithinstrumentsamplesrecordedatdifferent
velocities.Thishelpstomakeplayingsampledinstrumentssoundmorerealistic.Sample
volumesarealsoscaledbasedonkeyboardvelocitywithineachvelocityrange.Velocityranges
forthecurrentKeymaparesetusingtheVel Rng softbutton(seeVelocityRanges
(VelRng) on page 12‐5)
ortheLowVelocity(Lo),HighVelocity(Hi)parameters(seebelow.)All
keyrangesinaKeymapsharethesamesetofvelocityranges.Uptoeightvelocityrangescanbe
used.
WhentheVelRangeparameterisselected,youcanscrollthroughavailablevelocityrangesusing
theAlphaWheelorthe‐/+
buttons.Multiplevelocityrangesareonlyshownifthecurrent
Keymapusesmorethanonevelocityrange.IfthetoplineoftheEditKeymappagedisplays
VelRange,youcanscrollthroughtheavailablevelocityrangeswithany parameteronthepage
selectedusingtheCh an/Layer buttons.(PresstheTogglesoftbutton
totogglethetopline
betweendisplayingVelRangeandKeyRange.)
Low Velocity (Lo), High Velocity (Hi)
Usetheseparameterstosetthevelocityrangeofthecurrentkeyrange.Ifyouextendthecurrent
velocityrangeintoanother,theboundariesoftheothervelocityrangewillbecomeshortenedto
accommodatethevelocityrangeyouareextending.
Ifthevelocityrangeyouareextending
coversanothervelocityrange,theothervelocityrangewillbedeleted.
Coarse Tune
CoarseTuneallowsyoutotransposeasampleforagivenrange.Thisisextremelyusefulwhen
youhavesettheRootkeyofthesampleforonenotebutwantto
assignthesampletoadifferent
partofthekeyboardandstillbeabletoplayitwithouttransposition(seeRootKey on page 12‐10
fordetails.)Forexample,ifyouoriginallysettheRootkeyatC4butwantthesampleassignedto
C3,youwouldsetCoarseTuneto12ST,
transposingituponeoctave.Nowtheoriginalpitchwill
playatC3,oneoctavedown.IfyouexaminethedrumandpercussionkitkeymapsinROM,you
willseethatwehavedonethis.MostofourROMdrumsampleshavetheRootkeysetatC4.
There’sashort
cutforadjustingtheCoarseTuneautomaticallysothatthesampleplayswith
minimaltranspositionintheassignedkeyrange.SeeSpecialDoubleButtonPressesintheKeymap
Editor on page 12‐6.
Fine Tune
Thisgivesyoufurtherpitchcontrol.Oncethesample’spitchisclosetothedesirednote,usethe
Finetune
tosharpenorflattenitasmuchasahalf‐semitone.
Master Transpose (MasterXpose)
Thisparameterdoesnotreallypertaintothekeymapitself.Insteaditisid enticaltothe
TransposeparameterfoundontheMIDI‐modeTRANSMITpage.Ifyouchangethevaluehere,
thesamevaluewillbereflectedontheMIDI
‐modeTRANSMITpage,andviceversa.It
transposestheentireinstrumentglobally.Thereasonitisplacedonthispageisthatitwillallow
youtoassignsamplesacrosstheentirekeyboardeasily,whenyouareusingakeyboardthathas
fewerthan88notes.
Volume Adjust
Hereyoucanadjust
thevolumeofthenotesinthecurrentkeyrange.Thisenablesyoutomake
eachkeyrangeplayatthesamevolumeevenifthesamplesinthevariousrangeswererecorded
atdifferentvolumes.
