Arpeggiatorisonforthecurrentzone.Thisparametercanbeswitchedfromthe
ARPEGGIATORpage,orforrealtimecontrol,itcanbeswitchedonusingControllernumber
147(ArpOn)andswitchedoff
usingControllernumber148(ArpOff);theseControllerscan,of
course,beassignedasthedestinationofaPC3LEphysicalcontroller.
TurningActiveonaffectszoneswhoseZoneArpegvaluesarealsosettoOn.Bysettingthe
ZoneArpegparameter(ontheCH/PRGpage)toOfforOnintheindividualzones
ofasetup,
youcanchoosewhichzoneswillbecontrolledbytheArpeggiatorwhenitison.
Beats
TheBeatsparametersetsthenumberofnotesperbeat.Thetempoisbasedonquarternotes.
Therefore,ifyousetitto1/4,youwillgetonenoteperbeatof
theclock.At1/16,youwillget
4 notesperbeat,andsoforth.Youcangoallthewayto96notesperbeat(1/384),butatmost
tempos,divisionssmallerthan1/64willsoundprettymuchthesame.TofindaBeatsvalue,
multiplythenotesyouwant
perbeatby4.Forexample,4notesperbeat(16thnotes)wouldbe
4*4=16,aBeatsvalueof1/16.Threenotesperbeat(8thnotetriplets)wouldbe3*4=12,aBeats
valueof1/12.Sixnotesperbeat(16thnotetriplets)wouldbe6*4=24,aBeats valueof1/24 .Note
thatwhenrecordingarpeggiationstoaPC3LEMIDItrack,youmustturn onrealtime
quantizationandsetittothesameGridvalueinorderfortheselectedBeatsvaluetosync

Play Order
Thisparameterdeterminestheorderinwhich
thePC3LEplaysarpeggiatednotes.Played
causesthemtoplaybackinthechronologicalorderinwhichyouplayedandlatchedthem.
Upwardsmeansthatnotesplayinascendingpitchorder,regardlessoftheirchronological
order.Downwardsmeansdescendingpitchorder.UpDowncausesnotestoplayfromlowest
pitchto
highest,thenfromhighestpitchtolowest,repeatingthecycleuntilyoustopthe
arpeggiation.Thenotesattheverytopandverybottomonlyplayonce.UpDownRepeatis
similartoUpDown,exceptthatthenotesatthetopandbottomplaytwice(repeat)whenthe
Arpeggiatorreversesdirection.
Random
playsthecurrentlylatchednotesincompletelyrandomorder.Shuffleplaysthemat
random,butkeepstrackofthenotessothatnonoterepeatsuntilalloftheothershaveplayed.
Walkisa“randomwalkorder:eachsuccessivenoteiseitherthenextorpreviousnote(in
chronological
order).Forexample,supposeyou’velatchedfournotes—G 4, B4,D5,andF5
inthatorder.Thefirstnote theArpeggiatorplaysistheG4.ThesecondnotewillbeeitherB4
(thenextnotechronologically),orF5(the“previous”notechronologically—thatis,thelast
latchednote).Ifthesecondnoteis
B4,thethirdnotewillbeeitherD5orG4.Ifthesecondnote
isF5,thethirdnotewillbeeitherG4orD5.
SimultaneousmakestheArpeggiatorlatcheachnoteyouplayandrepeatitintimewiththe
Tempovalue,sortoflikeadigitaldelaywithno
decay.IfyouplayaCandholditwhileyouplay
anEandaG,theArpeggiatorwillplayallthreenotesatthesametimeandatthesametempo.
SimultaneousalsoworkswellwithShiftandLimit,allowingyoutoshiftmultiplenotes
simultaneously.
Duration
Durationdetermineshow
longeacharpeggiatednoteplays.100%meansthatanotesustains
untilthenextonesounds—verylegato.50%meansthatthenotefillshalfthespacebetween
itselfandthenextnote.Thelowestvalueis1%stacattissimo.Thisparameterhasnoeffecton
percussionsoundsorothersoundswhose
durationisfixed.
