Song Mode and the Song Editor
Song Mode: The MAIN Page
TheEventsfieldonthetoplinedisplaysthefreeRAMavailableforeventsintheselectedsong.
TheSongStatus,alsoonthetoplineofthedisplay,isalwaysoneofthefollowing:
STOPPED Thedefaultsequencer status;alsoappearswhenyoupresstheStoporPause
button.
PLAYING Appearswhen
thePlaybuttonispressed,butonlyifthefollowingconditions
aretrue:theRecordwasnotpressedpriortopressingPlay.
REC.READY AppearswhentheRecordbuttonispressedwhileSongStatusisSTOPPED.
REC.READYflashes,indicatingthatthesequenceriswaitingtostart
recording.
Current Song (CurSong)
ThisshowstheIDand16‐characternameofthesongcurrentlyselectedforrecording,playback,
orediting.Whenasongisselected,ProgramChange,Volume,andPaninformationissenttoall
MIDIchannelsassignedtotracksthathavedataonthem,andtheinternalclockissettomatch
thesettingoftheTempoparameter.Whenlookingforapreviouslysavedsong,youcanscroll
throughsongswhilethesequencerisplayingtoquicklyhearthebeginningofeach.
Tempo
TheTempoparameterdeterminestheinitialtempofortheselectedsong.Thesongwillalways
startplaybackattheinitialtempo.Whateverthetempoissettowhenyourecordyourfirsttrack
willbethesong’sinitialtempo.Duringplayback,thecurrenttempoisshowninthisfield.
Duringrecording,
temposdialedinheregetrecordedintheTempoTrack.Theinitialtempoand
othertempochangescanalsobeeditedintheeventlistfortheTempoTrack.TheTempotrac k
alsoallowsyoutoprogrammoreprecisefractional temposwithtwodecimalplaces.
Toquickly changeasong’sinitial
tempo,pressRecord(theSongStatuswillchangetoREC
READY),setthetempodesired,thenpressStop.Theinitialtempocanalsobechangedwiththe
Tempoparameter ontheCOMMONpageintheSongEditor,oratthetopoftheeventlistforthe
Tempotrackon
theEVENTpageintheSongEditor.
Note:YoucanalsosetthetempousingtheTapTempobutton(onthefrontpanel,belowthe
Modebuttons.)TaptheTapTempobuttononbeatforameasureortwoatthedesiredtempoto
setatempo.Thisalsobringsup
theTapTempopage(seeTapTempoButton on page 6‐4.)
Youcanalsosetthetempotobecontrolledbyanexternalsequencer.UsetheAlphanumericPad
toenter“0”inthetempofield,andpressenter.“EXT”willappearinthetempofield.AnyMIDI
TimeClock(MTC)signalreceived
atthePC3LE’sUSBorMIDIinportwillnowsettheSong
playbacktempo.
