Expandproducesacurvethatislesssteepthanthelinearcurveatkeystrikevelocitiesbelow64,
andsteeperthanthelinearcurveatkeystrikevelocities
above64.Inotherwords,whenyou’ re
playingsoftly,you’llnoticevelocitydifferenceslessthanwithalinearcurve,whilewhenyou’ re
playinghard,you’llnoticevelocitydifferencesmore.
Compressproducesavelocitycurvethatistheoppositeoftheexpandedcurve—thatis,you’ll
noticevelocitydifferencesmorewhenyou’ replaying
softlythanwhenyou’replayinghard.
