Thebasicdefinition:analgorithmisthe“wiring”(signalpath)ofasampletotheaudiooutputs,
throughaseriesofdigitalsignalprocessing(DSP)functionsthatyouselect.ThePC3LE’s
algorithmsarethecoreofVariableArchitectureSynthesisTechnology.The
DSPfunctionsare
synthesistools(filters,oscillators,etc.)thatyouassigntothevariousstagesofthealgorithm.The
DSPfunctionsyouchoosedeterminethetypeofsynthesisyouuse.
Thecentralportionofthepageshowsthealgorithmforthecurrentlyselectedlayer.Youseethe
numberofthealgorithm
(from1to28,101to131,and theIDsforanyuserdefinedalgorithms)
andagraphicrepresentationofthesignalpath,aswellasthecurrentlyselectedDSPfunctions
withinthesignalpath.
Touseadifferentalgorithm,selecttheAlgorithmparameteranduse anydataentrymethodto
selectadifferentone.TochangetheDSP functionwithinanalgorithm,movethecursortothe
blockyouwanttochange,thenusetheAlphaWheelorPlus/Minusbuttons.There’sa
staggeringnumberofcombinationsofalgorithmsandDSPfunctionsalone,nottomentionthe
numerouscontrolsthatcan
beusedtomodifytheDSPfunctions.
Note:Changingalayer’salgorithmcanaffectthelayer’ssounddrastically.It’sagoodideatobringdown
thevolumeofyourPC3LEoryoursoundsystembeforechangingalgorithms.
