Song Mode: The MAIN Page
Volume (Vol)
Youcansetavolumelevelforeachtrackasavaluebetween0and127.Ifthechannelofthe
RecTrk(orthecontrolchannel,ifRecTrkissettoMultiorNone)containsanyrecordedvolume
change(controller7),thechangewillbereflectedastheVol parameters
valueinrealtime,as
wellasontheMIXERpage.Also,changingtheVolvaluewhilerecordingwillwritevolume
automation(controller7messages)tothecurrentRecTrk’seventlist.
Initial Volume Settings
Eachsongfiledoesnotautomaticallysaveyourvolumesettingforeachtrack.Tomakeasong
saveyour
volumesettingsforeachtrack,youmustwriteaninitialvolumeforeachtrack.Initial
volumeisthevolumesetting thatwillbeusedwhenyoursongisplayedbackfromthestartof
bar1.Aninitialvolumesettingisessentiallyavolumeautomationmessagethatiswritten
before
thefirsttickofatrack.Initialvolumesettingsarenotautomatically writtenduring
recordingbecausetheymakeithardertotryoutdifferentvolumesettingsforatrack.For
example,aninitialvolumewillresetanyvolumeadjustmentsthatyoumakeduringplayback
eachtimethesongisstoppedand
playedfromthestartofbar1,orifthesongisstoppedand
playedfromanypointiftheControlChaseparametersettoOnontheSong:MISCpage(see
SongMode:TheMISCPage on page 1017.)Ifyouplantotryoutdifferentvolumesettings,itis
easierif
youwriteaninitialvolumeafteryouhavefoundthedesiredsetting.
Setting Initial Volume Per Track
FollowthesestepstochangethecurrentRecTrk’sinitialvolume.Whilethesequenceris
stopped,pressRecord,changethevalueofVol ,pressStop,andsavethesong(followthesame
methodtoquicklysetinitial
programorpansettings.)Initialprogram,volume,andpancanalso
besetatthetopofeachtrack’seventlist(seeSongEditor:TheEVENTPage on page 1031.)
Setting Initial Values For All Tracks
AnimportantlaststepbeforesavingafinishedsongistostoreinitialvaluesofProgram,Volume
andPanforall
tracks.Thiscanbedoneatanytime,butisbestdoneasalaststepifyouplanto
makealotofadjustmentstothesesettings.Towriteinitialsettingsforalltracks,presstheKeep
softbuttonontheSong:MIXERpage(seeSongMode:TheMIXERPage on page 10
12.)After
pressingtheKeepsoftbuttonyoumust saveyoursongtosavethesesettings(youare
automaticallypromptedtosaveuponexitingtheSong:MIXERpage.)PressingtheKeepsoft
buttonstoresthecurrentvalueofeachtrack’sProgram,VolumeandPansettingsasinitial
settings.Besurethat
thesevaluesoneachtrackaresettothevaluethatyouwishtostore,asthe
settingsmayhavechangedifyouhavewrittenanyautomation.
Note:Don’tusetheKeepsoftbuttonifyouwouldlikecertaintrackstonotbestoredwithinitialvalues.
Inthiscase,only
setinitialvaluesforeachdesiredparameterasdescribedabove(seeSettingInitial
VolumePerTrack.)
Volume Sources When An Initial Volume Is Not Set
Ifaninitialvolumeisnotstoredwitheachtrack,thevolumeforeachtrackofyoursongwillbe
setdependingonwhatmodeyouwereinprevioustoloadingthesong.If
youareinSongmode
andhaveplayedasong,andthenyouloa dasongwithoutinitialvolumes,thevolumeofeach
trackofthenewlyloadedsongwillbesetbythepreviouslyplayedsong.Volumesettingsare
tiedtoMIDIchannels,sothevolumeofeachtrackwill
bedependentonwhichMIDIchannelis
assignedtoeachtrackineachsong.IfyouareinSongmodeandyouloadasongthatdoesnot
haveinitialvolumeswithoutplayinganothersongfirst,thevolumeoftheMIDIchannelfor
eachtrackissetdependingonwhich
modeyouenterSongmodefrom.IfyouenterSongmode
fromProgrammodeorQuickAccessmode,thevolumeofeachtrackissetbasedonthevolume
foreachMIDIchannelsetinthosemodes.IfyouenterSongmodefromSetupmode,thevolume
