The Setup Editor
Transpose
Thischangesthepitchofthezone,withoutchangingitspositiononthekeyboard.Itchangesthe
MIDInotenumbersgeneratedbythekeysinthezone,withoutphysicallyshiftingthezone.The
rangeis‐128to127semitones.Sincethereare12semitones(orhalfsteps)toanoctave,you
can
transposeupordownovertenoctaves.Ifyoutransposeoutoftherangeoftheactivevoice,
however,nonoteswillsound;MIDInotenumberswilltransmit,butnoteswillnot.

NoteMapletsyouchangethewaynotesaresentfromthePC3LE.ThedefaultsettingisLinear:
allnotesgooutasplayed.PressingtheMinusbuttontakesyoutoOff;nonotesaresent,but
controllersandothernonnotedataare.
SettingNoteMaptoInverseeffectively
turnsthekeyboardupsidedown,withthehighestkey
beingA0andthelowestC9.IfyousetNoteMap toConstant,allofthekeysonthekeyboard
willplaythesamenote.ThenotedefaultstoC4,butyoucanchangethiswiththeTranspose
parameter.
Thisworkswellwhenyouwantthesoundfromaparticularkeytoplaywithevery
noteofanotherzone—forexample,playingaridecymbalwitheverynoteinabassline.
Nextarethealternatingnotemaps,whichletyoudividethekeyboardinsomeuniqueways.If
youare
usingtwoormoreMIDIdevices(includingthePC3LE),youcanexpandpolyphonyby
assigningeachzonetoadifferentalternatingnotemap.Forexample,ifyouhavetwoPC3LEs,
youcanassigntwozonestoeachplaythesameprogramonadifferentPC3LE,thereby
doublingpolyphony.
Tosplita
zoneintooneoftwoalternatingnotemaps,setNoteMapto1of2;nowthezoneplays
oneverysecondkey,startingonC,butwon’tplayonanyotherkeys.Setanotherzoneto2of2,
andthiszonewillplayoneverysecondkey,starting
onC
#
,thuscoveringtheremainingkeys.
Three‐andfourzonealternatingnotemapsworkthesameway,butcauseeachzonetoplayonly
oneverythirdandeveryfourthkey,respectively.
Notemapsarealsousedtocreatedrumpatterns withthearpeggiator.Severaloftheincluded
factorysetupsusethisfeature.
