Recording A Setup To Song Mode
TheMIDIoutputofasetupcanberecordedtoasonginSongmode.EachMIDIchannelthatis
outputfromasetupisrecordedintoeachtrackofasong(ifthetrackshavecorrespondingMIDI
channels.)Programsfromeachzoneofyoursetupareautomaticallyassignedtotracks
inSong
mode.Followthesestepsforproperrecordingofanewsongfromasetup:
1. EnterSongmodebypressingtheSongModebutton.
2. OntheSongmodeMAINpage,select0*NewSong*intheCurSngfieldbyentering0on
thealphanumericpadandpressingtheEnterbutton.This
loadsadefaultemptysongfile.
3. OntheSongmodeMAINpage,selectMultintheRecTrkfield.
4. PresstheSetupModebuttontoenterSetupModeandchoosethedesiredsetup.
5. PresstheTapTempobutton(belowtheMODEbuttons)toreachtheTapTempoPage.
Enteratempobytapping
theTapTempobuttonorenteratempointheTempofield .
Whenyouarefinished,presstheDonesoftbuttontoreturntotheSetupmodemainpage.
6. PresstheRecordbuttonandthenthePlay/Pausebuttontobeginrecording.The
metronomewillcountoff1barandthenrecording
willbegin(youcansetmetronomeand
otherrecordingsettingsinSongmode.)
7. PresstheStopbuttontostoprecording.YouwillseetheusualSongmodesavechanges
dialogwhereyoucanreview,retry,orsaveyoursong(seeTheSaveChanges
Dialog on page 109.)
8. Aftersavingyoursong,youwill
bereturnedtotheSongmodeMAINpage,whereyour
savedsongwillbeloaded.YoucancontinuetorecordoreditthesonginSongmodejust
asyouwouldwithanyothersong(seeSongModeandtheSongEditor on page 101.)Each
programfromeachzoneinyour
setupisautomaticallyassignedtoatrack(changethe
RecTrkparameterinordertorecordtoasingletrack.)Youcanalsocontinuetorecord
fromSetupmodebygoingbacktostep3,ab ove.Remembertosetthetempo(step5
above)beforerecording,asthesongtempowillchange
ifyoursetupissavedwitha
differenttempo.
Notes About Recording A Setup To Song Mode
Tempo:ThetempoofasetupissetontheSetupMode:COMMONpage(see on page 746.)If
youplantorecordasongfromthesamesetupseveraltimes,itisconvenienttosetyourdesired
tempoontheSetupMode:COMMONpageand
saveitwithyoursetup.Bydoingthis,youwill
notneedtoresetyoursetuptempotothedesiredsongtempoeverytimeyouloadyoursetup(as
instep5,above.)
Riffs:IfyouareusingRiffsinyoursetup,dothefollowingtomakeeachRiffplayat
yoursetup’s
tempo(whichalsobecomesyoursong’stempo.)Foreachzonethathasariff,gotothe
SetupMode:RIFF2page(seeTheRIFF2Page on page 751)andsettheBPMparametertoSetup.
RemembertosavechangestoyoursetupwhenexitingtheSetupEditor.
Effects:Whenrecordingasetup
intoSongmode,thesong willnot retaintheAuxeffectssettings
ofyoursetup.Ifyouwouldlikeyoursongtousethesameeffectsasyoursetup,copythe
settingsofyoursetup’sFXandAUX1pagestotheFXandAUX1pagesinyoursong.
Alternatively,playingyour
songfromsetupmodewillallowyoutoheartheeffects.Todothis,
loadyoursong,presstheSetupModebuttontoenterSetupmodeandchooseyoursetup,then
pressthePlay/Pausebutton.ThiswillplayyoursongfromSetupmode,andtheeffectswillbe
intact.
